What would Noah do?

Dear God:

I’ve been busy doing Your Will. I’ve been building on the ark and preaching and preaching and building the ark. I know You chose me because “I found favor” in Your eyes.  And I love You, praise You and honor You in all.  You know, of course You know, my heart. I want so badly for these people around me to be saved.  I heard some guy who claimed to be preaching (and he was so funny and easy to listen to) say “that if it is of God and healthy, it grows.”  But at this point people around me are not buying what I’m selling.  I mean, nearly 100 years of preaching and their’s not a single new member at the Ark Church.  So, I’m convinced that I’m not doing something right – maybe it’s my tone? Maybe I’m too condemning. Perhaps it’s the message – it’s so narrow and negative – “God is going to destroy the earth with a flood.”

To be honest about it – it’s – well, it’s just not very culturally relevant.  People want something more entertaining and interesting. I need to expand my message, maybe get Miss Noah in our the scene. Maybe if I offer a band with my sermon – people love good music.  I just really need to relate to the culture.

It’s just disheartening. Maybe it’s this whole ark thing – it’s big – perhaps it’s intimidating people. Maybe if I scaled it back a little or put in a few more windows.

It’s been a while since You sent Your Word to me and times have changed.  Shem suggested that as times have changed Your Word would have too.  That at one time it meant one thing but today it means something completely different.

Your builder:

Noah

PS:  I’ve been thinking about going into the wine business – surely that would be a good diversion.

* I’ll let you make your own application.
